Data Nudge processes
- Your display name, optional profile photo, and optional PayPal.Me username.
- Names and optional photos you add for contacts.
- Expense amounts, currencies, categories, notes, dates, payment status, group names, members, and shares.
- Anonymous installation, invitation, connection, and synchronization identifiers.
- Nudge messages and the expense context you choose to include.
- An Apple push token on iOS or Firebase Installation ID on Android after you enable notifications.
Why the data is used
Data is used only to provide app functionality: local bookkeeping, synchronization with people you connect to, invitations, the shared Inbox, scheduled reminders, support, security, and abuse prevention. Nudge does not sell data, show third-party advertising, or use data for cross-company tracking.
Local and synchronized data
Expenses stay on your iPhone until you connect with another person. Connected expenses and group events are stored on the Nudge server so both sides can synchronize. Other participants receive only data required for their connected balances and groups.
If you choose PayPal for a repayment, Nudge opens an HTTPS PayPal.Me link containing the recipient's public PayPal.Me username, amount, and currency. Nudge does not receive or store PayPal login credentials or PayPal transaction data.
Service providers
STRATO hosts the API and database. Apple processes App Store purchases and iOS push notifications. Google Firebase delivers Android push notifications. Ably carries minimal realtime wake-up messages; authoritative expense data remains on the Nudge server.
Retention and deletion
Connected data is retained while the anonymous Nudge profile exists. Settings → Account & data → Delete account permanently deletes the server profile, connections, synchronized expenses, groups, Nudges, scheduled reminders, device registrations, and local credentials. Operational server logs may be retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
Your choices
You can use Nudge without notifications, hide amounts in the interface, choose generic notification previews, disconnect people, archive settled records, or delete the entire account. Requests concerning access, correction, deletion, or objection can be sent to the contact address above.
Children and international use
Nudge is not directed to children under the applicable digital-consent age. Data may be processed where the listed providers operate, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.
Changes
Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
